The Free Press folks have already outdone themselves. Not only is this lineup more stellar than any years past, but the fest most definitely sold out (seriously, good luck with those scalpers. I’ve spent a good portion of this week hunting down tickets for my friends) and we’re on the eve of our fair city’s biggest music festival to date.
As a website who hasn’t done its part for Houston (besides post a fair amount of local talent), we’re very much so looking forward to the opportunity of covering the festival for the fifth consecutive year. Anyway, Sunbear and I will be holed up inside Eleanor Tinsley Park all weekend long, getting our tweet, photo pit and sweat on, and we had a few tidbits for you.
Here’s where you’ll find us this weekend:

and of course, the weworemasks Twitter.
– Don’t forget your sunscreen or your sunglasses, or you’ll be one red asshole.
– Download the official FPSF App, or you’ll feel like an unorganized asshole.
– Charge your phone, and make sure you have some way to charge it, or you’ll be one lost asshole.
– Give high fives to the FPSF staff if you see em, or you’ll just be an asshole.
Hit the jump for a preview of who we want to see the most!
See ya at the fest.

First off, here’s five artists that we’re most excited to see (in ABC order):
– Baroness: These Savannah, Georgia sludgers have their work cut out for them. They have an early timeslot, and will have to manage to bring their stoner-brand of metal to Houston and get people movin’ right away. Our bodies are already ready. Oh and go listen to their 2012 album(s), Yellow & Green. Sunday, Saturn Stage; 1:20 p.m.
– Japandroids: Fuck yeah. We get to kick off our entire 2013 festival experience with an early Saturday set from the Droids themselves, who hopefully plan on bashing in our skulls with riffs, beers and good times. Saturday, Mars Stage; 2:10 p.m.
– Milo Greene: This LA-based folk-pop outfit caught our attention when they opened for The Walkmen, and we’re looking forward to catching their late afternoon set on Sunday to help wind things down before the finales. Sunday, Venus Stage; 6:30 p.m.
– Passion Pit: They’ve played so many damn festivals, so it’s almost silly to include em on the list – but they had one of my favorite albums in Gossamer last year, and I’m pretty excited about this one. Let’s hope for uplifting spirits, despite the sad songs. Saturday, Mars Stage; 7:20 p.m.
– The Postal Service: Well, none of us ever thought we’d be able to catch the Dream Team duo that is Jimmy T and Ben Gibbs in action as The Postal Service, and one of the festival’s many headliners will get the chance to swoon us right back to 2003 when we were little emo sacks of shit trying to holler at girls with Give Up. Saturday, Saturn Stage; 8:50 p.m.
– We’re also probably gonna see all of these: The Niceguys, Brandon West and the Black Hats, Alabama Shakes, 2 Chainz, Nick Greer and the Gs, Arctic Monkeys, Dawes, Mavis Staples, The Bronx, Matt & Kim, Mackleymores and Ryan Lewis, TV on the Radio and Social Distortion.
k, Bye!
