wale performing “nike boots” with bun b and tre from UCB in houston, tx on 5-9-09
so last night was the sneaker pimps tour in houston, and it was an awful, awful, awful experience. grizzly and sun bear were in attendance.
first, we had to sit through about 6 terrible local houston rappers. [sans the nice guys. hype dudes, fun music. they might need to clean up their live set a bit because it’s real noisy and scatterbrained. other than that, no complaints.]
second, we basically got word that colin munroe and big sean weren’t at the show and i’ll thank big sean’s blog for that misleading piece of information.
third, i actually PAID for this fucking show because i couldn’t get press. yes this is a cool brag about me not having to pay for many shows anymore and yes, i’m bitter about dropping $20 of my dwindling bank account to see a show.
fourth, we finally get to the first decent act of the night, u-n-i. wale’s next.
fifth and most epic disappointment of the night came when wale hit the stage WITHOUT UCB. the sole reason i ever wanted to see wale live is so i could see him wreck lives with go-go and make us dance with a one hour set. well, it was a five-song, 25 minute, sans UCB set. if i knew i’d be paying for wale and some DJs, then i most definitely would’ve gone to a bar and let that $20 go to something a lot more worthwhile. however, bun b did come on stage and perform with wale, so that was pretty solid. and he did play the five songs anybody could’ve guessed he would play. [see: breakdown, w.a.l.e.d.a.n.c.e., back into go-go, chillin and nike boots]
anyway, wale is still a cool ass dude. i just wish i got some UCB, big sean and colin munroe action to go with my $20, 5 song wale dj set.
hit the jump for videos of “chillin” and “w.a.l.e.d.a.n.c.e.”. i had video of back into go go, but the quality is slop, so i axed it.
